Dr. Balram Bhargava & Prof. Anurag Kumar awarded The G.M. Modi Science Award

Chennai 2018: – The Gujar Mal Modi Science Foundation conferred the prestigious “Gujar Mal Modi Science Award” 2018 to Professor (Dr.) Balram Bhargava & Professor Anurag Kumar.

Dr. Balram Bhargava is an outstanding cardiologist and one of the foremost leaders in in biomedical innovation, public health, medical education and medical research.  Dr. Bhargava is an innovator par excellence with innovations touching everyday lives with very huge social impact for which he has started the Society for Less Investigative Medicine (SLIM). He has published several papers on the harmful cardiovascular effects of chewing tobacco and is evaluating the continuous blood pressure of DTC bus drivers in Delhi. Dr. Bhargava has led two major trials in India funded by the NIH Bethesda, USA which has changed clinical practice.  He has pioneered several techniques in interventional cardiology.

Prof. Anurag Kumar was a pioneer of research in mathematical modeling, analysis and design of communication networks in India.  He has made significant contributions to a range of problems in the stochastic modeling, performance analysis, optimization and control of resource sharing in communications networks and distributed systems. While applying rigorous mathematics to address these problems, he has aimed at obtaining engineering insights into practical problems and in developing algorithms and systems that have had impact on industrial practice.

Announcing the details for this year’s award,Mr Satish Kumar Modi, President of Gujar Mal Modi Science Foundation said, “Both the two awardees Professor (Dr.) Bhargava and Professor Kumar have made remarkable position in the field of Science and Technology. Their diverse contribution to the Science & Technology field have brought recognition to India. We are pleased to honor them today on this well-known platform”
