  Chennai, 07th Jan 2018 

            An Ex-Servicemen Rally was conducted by The Madras Regimental Centre under the aegis of Headquarters Dakshin Bharat Area at Trichy on 07 Jan 2018. An approximate strength of 2000 Ex-Servicemen and their dependents attended the rally. Rally was held to interact with maximum Ex-Servicemen in order to obtain first hand feedback regarding their problems and monitor ongoing welfare activities by the Army/State Govt.  This was also utilised as a platform to introduce the Ex-Servicemen to the civil authorities to enhance direct interaction between the two. The rally was organized at Kalainger Arivalayam, Karur by pass Road (near Chatram Bus              Stand ), Trichy – 02. Lieutenant General RK Anand, General Officer Commanding Dakshin Bharat Area was the Chief Guest.  The rally was also attended by,  Brigadier SK Sangwan, Commandant The Madras Regimental Centre, Wellington.           

            The Veterans were updated on all polices of the Ex-servicemen Contribution Health Scheme and on benefits being provided by the state government by District   Ex-servicemen Welfare Officer Lt Col (Retd) Gnana Sekar.  Brigadier SK Sangwan,  Commandant The Madras Regimental Centre, Wellington welcomed all the participants.   Thereafter, Lieutenant General RK Anand, General Officer Commanding Dakshin Bharat Area informed them about various welfare projects being conducted by Dakshin Bharat Area in Tamil Nadu. He recollected the sacrifices made by Ex-Servicemen and emphasized that their welfare is main focus of the Chief of The Army Staff while informing them about various welfare and health schemes.  He further informed that Dakshin Bharat Area has provided hostel facilities for wards of Ex-Servicemen, who are desirous of pursuing higher studies.

            Mobility equipments like modified scooter and financial assistance was given to Veer Naris and War Disabled Veterans.  A Medical Camp was also organised at this occasion, which was attended by doctors from Military Hospital, Chennai/Wellington, ECHS empanelled hospitals. Stalls by different Record Offices from all over the country, Recruiting Directorate, Army Placement Node, reputed banks were largely attended by all Ex-Servicemen to resolve their problems.  A community lunch was organised for all present at the venue.
