National Integration Camp of NCC for cadets from across India is being conducted by 34 (TN) Independent Coy NCC, Thanjavur on behalf of Rockfort Group, Trichy. This is a pan-India camp with participation of about 600 cadets from across the nation with a view to foster the spirit of national integration and solidarity by means of providing them with opportunities of community living and interacting with cadets of other states.
Today, on the penultimate day of the camp, Commodore Vijesh Kumar Garg, Deputy Director General, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and AN Directorate, addressed the cadets and appreciated them for having participated in all events with enthusiasm. He said that the youth of today being the citizens of tomorrow need to appreciate the diverse fabric of this great nation and strengthen it. He also presented the cadets with prizes and awards for competitions held in physical activities, cultural events, quiz and extempore talks. The function was opened with presentation of the camp report by Colonel Shaikat Roy, Deputy Camp Commandant where he explained the conduct of the camp.
The cadets then presented a vibrant and colorful display of cultural events comprising of songs and dances from all the corners of the country showcasing the beauty in diversity of the nation.
During the course of the camp they were exposed to the culture, language and customs of various regions of the country by means of songs, dances and presentations. In addition a lecture by an eminent professor was organized to sensitise the cadets with the culture of South India. The cadets were also taken to historical sites upto Kumbhakonam during the camp as part of Heritage Appreciation. The camp was earlier inaugurated by Col R Sivanathan, Group Commander, NCC Group Trichy on 06 Nov 2017 at PMU, Vallam, Thanjavur wherein he said that exposure to such Integration Camp for the young cadets give a unique opportunity which is important for grooming of the youth-future leaders of our society.
