After winning hearts and taste buds across Chennai, Maplai arrived at Kilpauk with the same warm hospitality and authentic food from across South India. The restaurant was launched on July 05 2018 by Mr Vikram Prabhu, renowned actor and an aficionado of South Indian cuisine. True to its southern roots, the Maplai decor reflects various art forms such as Karakattan and the Poi kal kuthira performance. The launch also included performances of the Kerala Chendamelam and Poi kal kudhirai.
The new additions at Maplai, Kilapuk is the Pottikadai thallu vandi (push cart) dole out native delicacies such as kamarkatt, then mittai, pulipu mittai, inji marapaan, kadalai urundai, yellu urundai etc
Bringing traditional fare to the modern guest with the most exciting flavours and using the best ingredients available has always been the Maplai way. The restaurant kitchen uses wood mill ground sesame oil and organic ghee from Melmaravathur. The mutton is sourced from Erode and is free range and grassfed. All this used in recipes that are authentic in a way that you will not find anywhere else. From the wood fire cooked biriyani, Country style chicken cooked in Nalla Ennai, Chintamani Chicken to the Meen Chatti Curry, Nattu Kozhi Chops, Madurai Mutton Chops, Soraputtu to Kuluki Sherbat, every new dish apart from the old favourites will bring together a medley of tastes and techniques that are as cool as they are original.
