The Department of Civil Engineering, SRM University, Kattankulathur is jointly organizing a one day International Seminar on “Trends in Urban Planning, Sustainable Development and Environment Management (TUPSUD 2017)“ in collaboration with NITTTR, Chennai on 15.11.2017 at Dr.T.P Ganesan Auditorium of SRM University. In this international event four main themes namely urban planning, urban infrastructure planning and management, Environmental planning and smart city will be the focus of discussions.

The conference will also cover several sub themes like Remote sensing GIS,GPS applications for urban planning and management, Sustainable urban development and approaches, urban water management ,urban wastewater and sewage management , solid waste management, urban transportation planning, intelligent transport systems, public private participation for urban development , Green buildings, smart homes and smart public transport systems.

Participants  are experts in Town Planning, Safety and Environment, Research and Development from  Afghanistan, Botswana , Cuba, Egypt, Iraq, Kenya, Mauritius, Sudan, Tanzania, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Cuba, Namibia. Indian institutions include  IIT Palakkad, Mysore University, GITAM University, Andhra University, to mention a few.

. SUDHINDRA NATH PANDA, Director, NITTTR, Chennai will be the chief guest for the International event. This seminar will through light on smart city development, urban planning and management, urban wastewater management, green building in the Indian context and in the global context and also act as a platform to create a link between technocrats, Researcher, Stake holders, Government agencies and students. The deliberations will help to create awareness among the public on several common issues like urban water management, wastewater management, solid waste management and it will indirectly help to achieve the goal of SWATCH Bharat.
