December 14, 2021: Sportz Village, India’s largest youth sports platform, won two awards at the ESG Summit & Awards 2021 held on Dec 10th. Sportz Village and Sportz Village Foundation qualified and won two prominent awards under “ESG Innovation in Sports Education” and “Driving Social Change Through Sports” categories respectively for contributions towards sports enablement and sports education for children/youth through its unique organisational and corporate-backed initiatives.

The ESG summit served as a knowledge-sharing platform for ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance) stakeholders, followed by an award ceremony that recognized business leaders and organizations for their continuing commitment in developing best ESG practices and strategies. The virtual meet hosted leaders from organizations like Flipkart, UltraTech Cement, Infosys Limited, Blue Dart, L&T etc who discussed ideas to develop a shared vision, strategy, and approach to best ESG practices. Parminder Gill, Co-Founder – Sportz Village, was one of the prominent speakers at the summit. He focussed on how businesses can link their ‘purpose and profit’ and emphasized how Sportz Village as a brand aims to make the world a better place by focussing on ways to encourage play and sports for physical fitness.

Commenting on the recognition, Parminder Gill said “We are elated to be acknowledged for helping drive measurable social change in the areas of health, education, and empowerment – through sport. I would like to thank our partner organizations – viz. corporates, brands, state governments, schools, and communities across the country – who back our mission of getting more and more children to play.” He added, “Since playing sport is directly linked to the improved physical and emotional health of children and youth, any investment by the businesses towards creating ‘sporting opportunities’ within the communities helps them meet their sustainability goals and set their ESG agenda into action.”

Sportz Village has been working very closely with leading businesses/ brands like HCL, Decathlon, Boost, Red Bull, DXC Technologies – to help reduce the barriers to access sport for children, girls, and youth – through their social marketing, employee volunteering, CSR, and sustainability programs.
