*India’s First Motorized TAVR System Successfully Implanted at CMC Vellore*

*Vellore 17th November 2025:* The Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, has achieved a major milestone in Indian cardiovascular care with the first-ever implantation of the Vitaflow Liberty, a motorized Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) system, in India.

P *erformed by Dr. John Jose, Professor and Head of Cardiology, Unit II the procedure II theried out on an 82-year-old lady with severe aortic stenosis.*
The Vitaflow Liberty system, developed by MicroPort, is the world’s first motorized TAVR delivery platform, designed to ensure smooth, controlled, and highly precise deployment of the valve.

This marks the first time in India that a motorized TAVR system has been used in a patient, representing a new era of accuracy and safety in structural heart interventions. Under Dr. John Jose’s leadership, the CMC team has already successfully implanted the Vitaflow Liberty in four patients, all of whom are doing well post-procedure.
With more than 400 successful TAVR implants and over 10000 valve procedures performed at CMC Vellore over the years, this achievement reinforces the institution’s role as a national leader in advanced cardiovascular procedures and highlights its mission to bring the latest global innovations to patients in India.
CMC Vellore proudly congratulates Dr. John Jose on performing the first motorized TAVR implantation in India, marking a new milestone in advancing structural heart care in the country.
