SRMIST Medical students finished their 100hours Swachh bharat summer internship @ Anjur village
The second and third year MBBS students of SRM medical college enrolled themselves for the ‘Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Programme-100 hours of swachhata’, launched by the Government of India. The students adopted the village of Anjur under Kattankulathur block of Kanchipuram district and conducted many activities towards the cause of rural sanitation in India for a duration of 100 hours. The various activities like Field visit and surveying about solid waste management, Waste Collection Drive, Street clean-up, Sapling Plantation, Door to Door Awareness campaign on open air defecation, Talk on menstrual hygiene and steps of hand washing, Development of compost pit, Conducting activities in Govt. High school, Wall Paintings on the theme of Cleanliness and Sanitation were performed by the students with great zeal. The Valedictory Ceremony and Prize Distribution Function for the same took place on the 29th of June at Govt High School, Anjur headed by Dr. A. Sundaram M.D, Dean, SRM MCH & RC and Mr. V. Thirumurugan, Associate Director (CL), SRM IST. Mr. M.S.M Vallavan, DSP (Vandalur) graced the occasion as the chief guest along with Mr. Muthusundaram, BDO, Kattankulathur Panchayat Union. The Dean, Dr.A. Sundaram urged the children to learn the importance of cleanliness and hygiene and to further teach their parents and friends while the chief guest, Mr. M.S.M Vallavan, DSP (Vandalur) gave a motivational talk to build the self-confidence of the students. The event concluded with the winners of the Drawing, Speech & Slogan Competition conducted for classes 6 to 8 receiving prizes from the dignitaries onstage
