Chennai, September 27, 2024— The Chennai International Film Festival, in association with the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, hosted a grand inauguration of the Mosfilm Festival today at the AVM Auditorium, Avichi College of Arts and Science. The event marked the beginning of a 3-day cinematic celebration, honoring Mosfilm’s rich legacy as one of Russia’s most iconic movie studios, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

The inauguration was graced by the distinguished presence of His Excellency Valery Khodzhaev, Consul General of the Russian Federation in Chennai, and Mr. Alexander Dodonov, Vice Consul and Director of the Russian House in Chennai. Both guests expressed their appreciation for the cultural collaboration and highlighted the significance of Russian cinema in the global film industry.

The first day’s screenings kicked off with *Rent a House with All the Inconveniences* (2016), a comedy that entertained the audience with its light-hearted narrative, followed by *Anna Karenina: Vronsky’s Story* (2017), which transported viewers to a dramatic retelling of one of literature’s most famous love stories.

The festival will continue with a showcase of some of Mosfilm’s most remarkable films, offering audiences a rare chance to delve into the history, culture, and creativity of Russian cinema. The screenings, all of which include English subtitles, provide a unique opportunity for Chennai’s film enthusiasts to appreciate international films in their local setting.

The Mosfilm Festival runs until September 29 at the AVM Auditorium, offering films such as *The Vanished Empire* (2007), *The Star* (2002), *Ward No 6* (2009), and *Decision: Liquidation* (2018).
