*Dr Agarwals Institute of Optometry and Loyola ICAM College of Engineering and Technology Host India’s First Convergence Conference of Engineers and Eye care professionals ISVTEC 2025*
⮚ ISVTEC 2025 Abstract Book with 100 Research Papers Released at the Two-Day International Conference
*Chennai, 24th October 2025:* In a groundbreaking initiative that bridges healthcare and technology, Dr. Agarwals Institute of Optometry (DAIO), the academic and research wing of the renowned Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital Group, in collaboration with Loyola-ICAM College of Engineering and Technology (LICET), inaugurated ISVTEC 2025, the International Conference on Intelligent Systems and Vision Technology in Eye Care.
The event marks India’s first-ever platform where engineers and eye care professionals come together to explore how artificial intelligence, biomedical innovation, and diagnostic technology can transform eye care and reduce avoidable blindness.
The conference was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Mr. Vishwak Avanan, Director & Vice President – Development, Artha Systems LLC, and the Guest of Honour Dr. Sujatha Mohan, President of Tamil Nadu Opthalmology Association, in the presence of Dr. Soundari, Chairperson – Clinical Board, Dr. Agarwals Eye Hospital, Dr. Karpagam D, Dean of DAIO, Prof. Maheswari and Prof. Hamza Qureshi, DAIO, Rev. Dr. Antony Robinson SJ, Rector of Loyola College, Rev. Dr. Justine SJ, Director of LICET, Dr. A. Baskar, Principal of LICET.
As part of the inauguration, dignitaries released the ISVTEC 2025 Abstract Book, featuring 100 scientific papers contributed by clinicians, researchers, and technologists from India and across the globe. Around 400 delegates participated in person, with numerous international attendees joining online, marking ISVTEC as one of the largest optometry-engineering collaborations in Asia.
The two-day conference features keynote sessions, research paper presentations, and hands-on workshops on:
● Artificial Intelligence in diagnostics and treatment planning
● Portable OCT devices and AI-assisted retinal imaging
● Virtual Reality in vision therapy and diagnostics
● MATLAB applications for biological tissue measurement
“This conference represents the future of eye care, where data, devices, and doctors collaborate,” said *Dr. Karpagam D, Dean of DAIO* . “It is an honour to see our students, researchers, and global experts together driving innovations that will define the next decade of vision science.”
*Rev. Dr. Antony Robinson SJ, Rector of Loyola College, Chennai, said* that “ISVTEC 2025 is vital as it creates a rare interdisciplinary platform where engineers, ophthalmologists, and optometrists collaborate to translate emerging technologies into practical innovations that directly enhance eye care and vision health.”
*Prof. Hamza Qureshi, Organising Secretary of ISVTEC 2025,* mphasized DAIO’s leadership: “At DAIO, we believe true innovation happens when clinical experience meets technological creativity. ISVTEC is not just a conference — it’s a movement toward smarter, accessible, and more human-centered eye care.”
India currently faces over 4.9 million cases of blindness and 70 million with visual impairment, much of which is preventable. By integrating advanced engineering and AI into optometric care, DAIO aims to contribute to the Government of India’s Viksit Bharat by 2047 goals for universal eye health.
